A Little Princess
Frances Hodgson Burnett
1 1/2 Hours 50 Pages

Response:
So far I have read The Diamond-Mines up to In The Attic. These two chapters where really sad. When reading these two chapters I kept thinking about how, Sara is feeling knowing that her father died in war and she has no money and no place to go. Miss. Min chin was very upset about not getting paid for all Sara has cost her. Sara got the news in the middle of her birthday party. I know that if it was my birthday I really wouldn't want to hear any thing like "Your father was killed" that would of just been such an unexplainable feeling.

I think that the author really tried to put an impact in this part of the book. I think that he really showed that with Sara crying, and not believing in magic any more. I can see why she wouldn't believe in anything any more, It much be really hard losing your father. In the book Sara grows alot as a character. For example realizing very soon that she has to do whats best for her, to stay strong, and she knows that some how everything is going to fall in to place. Sara from then has to work as a servant to earn her room and food at that school.

I'm really enjoying this book its very sad, but interesting to read I can't wait to read the next chapter!

1. I think that Melinda is a girl who is giving up on her self, because she doesn't have any more friends. I think that Heather (her new friend) is trying to help her and support her, but Melinda just doesn't have faith in her self any more.

2. The reason her friends don't like her any more is because Melinda was at a party over summer, and she had to call the cops to stop some things that she didn't like that were going on. I think that she mayed the right chose in calling the cops. Melinda does to but now that she no one talks to her, it's hard to say if she still thinks she should of done that.

3. I think that my least favorite character would be Rachel or as she likes to call it "Rachelle" because I can't belive she would treat Melinda the way she does. For Example when she liped I hate you in class. I really injoy reading this book because, it's like reading a dairy. I really want to get to the end on the book and find out what happened at the party that got her to lose all her friends.

i agree with you i feel really bad for melinda. It suks to have no friends. I dont think her friends should have left her. I agree about the party part too i think that happend. I feel bad for her. I dont like "rachelle" ither i think she is mean ans selfish.

1.I agree with what you said. But i dont think she's giving up. Well not yet. I think that the faith part is totally true. Because you most of the time tell your friends stuff you wont dare tel your parents first. Or just period. And everyone at the school hates her other than the girl from idaho.

2.It was a end of the summer party. And i agree that it is to hard for her to speak up and say it. Probably why the book's name is Speak. Because everytime it comes up her throat closes up. Well it feels like it to her.

3.Isnt three susposed to be a queston? But i agree because if someone was your friend for 9 years and something happened. You should listen and even though its hard i think that Melinda could write it or something. But out of everyone Rachelle is the least favorite character.

1.) I think that Melinda isn't trying to make things better. I think that she doesn't want to do anything about her problem. Like I said shes giving up on her self, and you can probably amagine what shes going through. Melinda sometimes, I guess trys to do better but nothing positive reflects back to her. She thinks that there's a possibility that her parents are going to get divorced. In the book it says that shes cuting her self. I think that she is trying to just get high school over with.

2.) Melinda needs to get over what happened at the party, it getting in her head, and it's preventing from alot of things. Melinda, is trying to be someone else in some parts of the book. It sort of bothers me, but I can see why she is. It's kind of hard reading the book because Melinda keeps struggling, and it makes me want to tell her to do something about it. Overall the book is good and I want to find out what happened at the party.

3.) Do you think that Melinda is soon, or will get over what happened at the party?
